Show your dogs some love…by leaving them at home πŸ™‚

We all love taking our dogs for a ride around town as we run errands. The only one who loves it more than the humans are the dogs! Unfortunately, 100’s of pets die each year from heat exhaustion because they are left in parked vehicles.

Yes, even if you cracked the windows that’s not enough. Especially when we run into the store for what we think is just a few minutes but then it turns into twenty minutes!

Even when the outside air temperature is only 70 degrees, it only takes 30 minutes for the inside of the vehicle to reach 104 degrees! 104 degrees!

When the outside air temperature is 90 degrees (like many summer days here in Holly Springs, North Carolina), it only takes 10 minutes to reach 109 degrees! Yes, 10 minutes and it’s already gone up 19 degrees!

For those of you who think cracking the windows helps, it doesn’t. You would have to open the window enough where your dog could actually get out in order for it to make a difference on the inside temperature.

So, what’s the easiest solution? As they say, if you love ’em, leave ’em…as in leave them home. Even in a home with no air conditioning, it would take hours for the home to reach just the outside temperature.

If you’re going to be gone for a few hours and don’t want to leave them home alone, you can always hire a pet sitter. The investment of a pet sitter is a small price to pay to ensure that your pets are happy, healthy and cool. You no longer have to rush through the stores or feel the guilt of returning to a hot car. Instead, enjoy your day out with the peace of mind that your pets are having a great day too!
